First we need to decide if the function is increasing or decreasing. Although the data shows an increasing trend, we are not allowed to eliminate any of the answer choices. Now let’s see how it’s increasing. Judging from the huge jumps in percent over the short time in the beginning we can rule out Linear and S-curve, as those functions do not rapidly increase. Finally let’s look towards the end of the data. It appears to be converging to 95. This allows us to rule out the exponential and the quadratic, as these functions continue off towards infinity or zero (if its exponentially decreasing). This leaves us with choice D.

This problem is solved through drawing a picture. We know the angle separating these two sides, and upon drawing it, it is recognized that the triangle is a 30-60-90 triangle, with side lengths of 60, 120, and 60√3. Thus, the height is 60√3, the base is 60, and the hypotenuse is 120. Using the formula for area of a triangle, we see that (60*60√3)/2 should be greater than 3000. You’ll have a calculator on the DAT, but the trick to scoring high on the QR section is minimizing the need of a calculator.
